Default Semi sweet

My husband came home from deployment for my birthday and our anniversary. We are celebrating 12yrs today. We are somewhere in the middle of our first deployment, so today is sort of a semisweet day. I love that we finally get to be together on our anniversary (we've missed most of them due to military such and such) but the knowledge that he will be leaving soon, makes me sigh and start the I'm-going-to-miss-him feelings. I understand that he has to go, and am proud of him... but that doesn't mean those feeelings get it. I have a saying... Just because I understand doesn't mean I have to like it!

Enjoy the birthday and the anniversary and try not to think about him heading out again. I know, easier said then done but there will be plenty of time to feel sad when he's left. I'm closing up my second deployment and while both were different and similar I couldn't honestly tell you it was much easier. I knew what to expect but you're still so far from one another.

Hang in there, have fun, enjoy every second and when he leaves and you need a place to land, we're here for you!

I'm so glad you were lucky enough to spend time with him! That is wonderful! But try and keep your chin up. Like Meredith said, it's easier said than done- but you know time is nothing. Whenever you love someone, you would wait a lifetime and more to end up with them. Of course, those feelings are rough, and if I were in your shoes- I would probably cry once he left. But just try and be positive and wake up each day thinking "this is one day closer to him I am. one day less to wait to see him again." positive thinking goes a long way!

Thanks everyone! He's back over and I am back here throwing myself into everything I can find to do. The positive side is that I have learned more of how to fix things, build things and get things done that I would have previously waited and had him do. Even though the time with him was short, it was well worth it!
