I received this email from Jason this morning and I really think you all need to read it. I should post it in news but I feel that this is something that we all need to read and follow up on.

The President is considering proposing a plan in which veterans themselves would pay for treatment of service related injuries through their private insurance companies. Articles on the topic can be found at:

CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/10/veterans.health.insurance/index.html

FOX: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/03/17/vets-group-blasts-obama-plan-private-insurance-pay-service-related-health-care/

Please consider the President’s words from his speech to a joint session of congress on Feb 24, 2009:

As we meet here tonight, our men and women in uniform stand watch abroad and more are readying to deploy. To each and every one of them, and to the families who bear the quiet burden of their absence, Americans are united in sending one message: we honor your service, we are inspired by your sacrifice, and you have our unyielding support. To relieve the strain on our forces, my budget increases the number of our soldiers and Marines. And to keep our sacred trust with those who serve, we will raise their pay, and give our veterans the expanded health care and benefits that they have earned.

While his proposal is already encountering strong bipartisan opposition and will most likely never even make it to a vote, it is disheartening that the administration would even considers such a notion, especially when it is working tirelessly to bail out corporations suffering from years of bad business practices as well as individuals who chose to live above their means.

If you feel strongly about this, please contact your elected officials via e-mail, telephone, and written correspondence. Find your representatives at:

No offence... but to me... it sounds like hes completely CONTRADICTING what hes doing...

paying for treatment through private insurance companies to me is NOT expanding health care and benefits that they have earned.... its going to cost them way more...

How can you not know? Basically...... HE is saying Matt could get severely injured, possibly missing limbs brain damage, and he would be responsible for the bill...or at least his own private health insurance would..... (with severe injuries he would be med boarded out aka a veteran)

I just want to make sure you are clear on exactly what he is saying.

This was on the Military.com website today, and in my email. It looks as though Obama is pulling the plan.... In other words, he's not going to submit the proposal.

Could you imagine the outrage if this actually went through? If he had pushed it through, I would hope that the Senate and House would have shot it down. OBAMA!!!!!!

If not I could simply see every service member that was able to showing up on the white house steps.. what a STTTTUUUUPPPIIIIDDD idea!!! Here we are bailing out these big banks yet trying to rush around trying to make up the deficit somewhere else, certainly pulling funding from the troops or even vets is NOT a good idea!
