Well if you couldn't tell by my username, my name is Lauren. :) I used to be on this site like a year ago, before the re-model. My old username was Tim.is.my.hero for those of you that remember me. So for those that remember and those don't here's an update/info on me.

A little about me: I am 19 years old. I am a 1st year here at Manchester College. Double majoring in Psychology and Social Work. On December 5, 2008 I proudly enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. :usa:I am awaiting to leave for boot at the end of THIS semester. After completion of my training, I plan to return here to my college and be a reservist for the Corps. For those who want to know I'll be 0121 (English translation: ADMIN- Personel Clerk). I'm still making some final decisions on my future career, but these are my final decisions: Corps (lifer)-Officer; Civi- counselor for abused women & children and adolescents in general.

A little about my SO: He is an infantryman in the Corps. (For those who wonder, I didn't enlist b/c of him. lol I've been asked that before) He's been in for a little over a year and his stationed on the West Coast.

A little about US: Strange story. If you want the actual juicy details PM me lol but in short, we met through a mutual friend. Originally we started talking so I could get advice about the Corps: his experience, what he went through during boot, etc. Soon we realized we had a connection and one thing lead to another and we just CLICKED. Neither of us expected it to happen. Neither one of us wanted a relationship due to our training and past experiences, but things happen for a reason I guess. Currently we've only been together for a month. The distance is rough, but we have developed better communication than any of our friends and their SO. We will be looking at our first deployment (it's his 1st already and it'll be a 1st for us as a couple):tissue:. Good news with that: I'll be training during most of his deployment. Bad news: I'll be training during most of his deployment lol. Communication is really going to be key during that time.

I think we all understand the distance thing but I totally understand your situation! Before Mike deployed the last time he was stationed out here at Lewis on the west coast and I was still in school on the east coast. It can be really hard but distance can also be extremely great for a relationship! As you stated communication is key but it will really make you guys stronger!

Dude I LOVE that we are totally racking up on Marine girlfriends!! & on that note Lauren I totally respect you for being a girl in the marines!

I'm Lisa, 19, my boyfriend, Dustin, has been in the corps for two years this June, and we've been together for 2 and a half years next month.

If your so is stationed on the west coast he must be at pendleton, which is where D is. I however am stuck in TX going to school (not so) patiently waiting his 4 year term to be over about a month after I graduate college lol.

hi lauren!! im lindsay- my fiance aaron is currently deployed to iraq. he left back in december and i definitely know what you mean by the distance being rough- but it will really make you and your SO stronger than ever!! aaron and i have really great ways of communicating too- and it helps a lot but also makes it hard when i go a day or two without hearing from him...
im 20 years old and go to school in virginia- im majoring in criminal justice and plan on working for the FBI one day :)

ha ha oh I so forgot to mention that...hence why my username has changed. My ex Tim and I broke up. He just wasnt who he appeared to be, but you'll ahve that sometimes. I still respect him and all soldiers are my heroes, but him and I are no longer together. My loves name is Levi and he is in the Marines lol as bad as that sounds and makes it seem that I date only military men. So NOT true. Levi and I never expected to get together. I was really just looking for advice on the Marines and one thing lead to another and we fell in love. Kinda sounds like a fairytale if you think about it. lol Sorry for the mix up ladies. Thanks for ya'lls support though. It means a lot.

I'm scheduled to graduate Aug. 21, then I get to have a 10 day leave, then back to SC for MCT (Marine Combat Training), then I go to my MOS school (Admin: Personel Clerk)
