I have a situation..

Ok..so ill tr to keep this short.Ok..whenever my husband gets back from this deployment he is getting out of the military..and i know it takes 3 month to do all the out proccessing..thats in Tx.I am in Ohio and we both want to be together those 3 month.Is there any way we could get on post housing?i have a power of attorney.Is there i certain amount of time you have to live on post?I am new with so much of this and i wish i could just get some answers..everyone says something different!!Is there any appartments that dont have contracts nowdays??Thanks in advance for any answers!!!

Check with the base to see if they have army lodging. It's actually really nice, and its cheap too. If it is only for 3 months, they probably won't give you housing...

But you just have to get in contact with the housing office there.

army lodging is kind of like a nice hotel thats on post. I doubt they would actually give you post housing for just 3 months. It wouldn't hurt calling the housing office and asking them though.

Army lodging is not cheap and they may not cover it for you. I would look for apartments in the area for TDY (temporary duty) soldiers. Both here at Bragg, and at Rucker, we were able to get apartments with no lease. You might have to search around, but you'll be able to find something!

I am not sure what part of TX your talking about, I know here at Ft. Hood you have to have at least 12-24 mo of service commitment left. I also know there are Hotels here on and off post for pretty decent rates. But at the min your looking at 30 a day. I know that really sucks, you could also possibly look into a short term lease here but again it will be a couple hundred a month. If you are talking about the Ft. Hood area I will ask a few people for you if you want.

Marie, Like I said before I know they won't move you on post but I know alot of the rental agencies around here too will rent either month to month or 3, 6,9 &12 month leases. Rent down here is soo cheap. You could always just rent a place short term. My landlord rocks and the houses they have are beautiful. You can check them out, they sometimes only put their higher end leases online. But it is called Elite rentals (In Killeen).
Also check on on craigslist they have alot of short term rentals on there as well. Check in the diff rental sections. I hope that helps, I will continue to ask around. I am gonna assume he is in 1st cav?

I may be wrong but you might be looking more at 6 mo becuase they have to have 90 days stabilization first and then i don't know how long it takes to out process but if you say 3 mo your looking at 6 mo, I am not sure they can do both at the smae time (no expert on that)

Deffinatetly look into the base lodging.. it's nice, clean and not too expensive
Plus if they know you're stayign for awhile they'll probably give you a price cut
Some apartments aroudn bases will also do month to month contracts too so check around

ON post housing is Not cheap here. $49 a day. (Cheaper than a hotel but NOT cheap if your staying for a while) and they DO NOT work out deals.... lmao.

I was looking around AHRN.com and there was a transitional housing place renting at Campbell for short term TDY. Maybe they have something like that there.
