ok so my hubby does not live on base at all no longer in the barracks but why in the hell does he have to go (after everyone else he works with is let go for the day) over the the barracks and make sure they are cleaning? do they ever think that maybe they should go home just so they can clean there own house?
I think the main reason why im so mad is that they have been working over there normal time all week(even though there isnt a back up on what they need to get done) and then they finally get off at the normal time and he has to go deal with ppl that cant clean...and he is the wrong pick for this job he cant clean anything lol
so is this another thing that only the Marines do or is it something the other branches do as well?

its not just the marines dont worry. ITs the military they are the king and queens of BULLSHIT.
Adam has cleaned many a barrack and many a toilet. It comes with the job, I suppose. I agree they should be cleaning themselves. Heck they can come over my house anytime..hehe.

I don't think Mike's had to help clean the barracks (on his off time) since he moved out BUT he has done CQ shifts which is a 28hr some odd shift where he works in the office during regular hours and then is basically like a college RA for the guys who live in the barracks. Makes sure people sign in, the guys on extra duty are really doing their extra duty etc. I believe if you're under e5/e6 you still have to do it even if you're off post. He used to order chinese from the place right off post and I'd pick it up after work and have dinner with him lol.
Seems like the military never seems to run out of shitty stuff to do and unfortunately moving out of the barracks doesn't seem to get most of them out of barracks duty..
Mere, Adam does the same thing every 2 or 3 months they have a rotation and he gets barracks duty, it's his favorite..lol.

Mike didn't mind it either! he liked the recovery day...and I kinda like it to. Much nicer to wake up to them getting IN bed with you instead of gettin out lol plus it was our own little weeknight treat that we didn't do often...whats better than chinese food in the barracks day room?! lol

thats cool...i think one of them has to be there during the day but they're all in the building and then at night like i said they take turns and let each other sleep....altho still in the building. After they found the two teenage girls (one who died) in one of the barracks Mike had to guard a broken back door all night long he had to roll a chair in from one of the guys rooms so we could eat together lol. He's like sorry...didn't know I'd be guarding a door all night!

yup Jordan has to do that too it really sucked when it feel on my bday(first bday with no one i know around it sucked) but he made it up to me...and the sad part since he was on duty over the weekend he didnt get an off day...he never gets duty on a week day unless it is Friday so he never gets a day off...that too the last time he had duty it was a friday and one of the Marines that lived with us was taken to the hospital so not only did my husband have an appointment with sports med he then had to spend over half the day at the hospital so they could check him out and make sure he wasnt sick....so he didnt really have to do duty other then over the night.
