Does anyone know if you lose your VA loan if you choose not to re enlist?

I guess what I'm asking is if Mike and I want to use the VA loan to buy a house do we have to do it before he gets out or can we still use it after he ets's?

I think it would be pretty shitty if after 8 years of service and 4 tours of duty they wouldn't let him keep it but I don't want to lose it either. Getting that loan is going to be our only hope at ever owning a home...

I'm pretty sure FIL used his post his army career but he also retired after 21 years so I don't know if the rules change if you do the full 20..I guess I could ask him lol

I am mostly positive he would be able to get a VA loan. I believe as long as you served at any time you can qualify. Heck Adam qualified and he only went through BCT and AIT so if Mike didn't I would be shocked.

lol yeah I don't know why I all the sudden panicked about it. I'm just stressing the getting out thing and the double un employment that we're going to experience when he ets's and we move back to the east coast. Just a little scary. I'm seriously considering asking my brother's friend to see if it would be an option to let me continue working for my company from home. BUTT I'm not sure lol. It would be pretty sweet to be connected via comp/web cam and get to wear pjs to work and cut out all of the office type bs. we'll see. it may be too much to ask of them after everythinnnggg they've done for me thus far!

That's a good idea Mere... Hopefully, they are willing to work with you for the time you are in Washington. Would you move back to the area you are working from now? Or are you guys going to be closer to his family that you wouldn't be able to continue to work for them? I hope it works out!

joey got out in september, and we used it for the house we moved in to last week! no worries chick ;)
