Who's been at Hood??

I was told that a lot of areas around Hood are really ghetto. Is that true? I really like a lot of houses in Killeen, but I was told that there are a lot of areas that aren't suitable to travel to alone. I need a nice safe area where John won't have to worry about Chassidy and I if/when he deploys. I was told Copperas Cove is nice, but I don't like any of the houses there. They look more ghetto than Killeen.
So, if you've been there, PLEASE let me know where are the nicer areas near base? And would you recommend on-post over the local areas? We are leaning toward off-post, but are willing to consider on-post if there's a good reason why we'd be better off on-post. Thanks ladies! I'm such a planner and this is driving me bonkers! :wacko: lol

I lived in Hood. I'd be happy to help you. I'll post more when I get back from Kroger. STAY AWAY from Rancier.... Housing looks nice but it is straight up Compton...... Copperas Cove is beautiful, You won't find it on a map becuase is newer than the maps but anything on summers street on off of Bermuda St is REALLY NICE and will be newer than 2 yrs old. ;) If there are specific area's you are interested in we lived there for almost 2 yrs and just moved less than 6 mo ago I'm pretty familiar w/ the area, would be happy to let you know what I know of the location ;)

We visited there, and just driving through Killeen made me nervous...lol

I've had family living there, and everyone says that Cooperas Cove is nice!

The houses I saw initially that I liked were in Killeen, but I think I'll steer clear of that lol! I'm looking on AHRN and found a couple of cute places in Copperas Cove that fit our needs and budget. I haven't looked in other areas much yet, but if I fond more I like, I'll see what you think about the area. Thank you so much!!

We rented from a company called Elite Rentals. They were a pretty decent co to rent from. Like I said before our house was less than 2 yrs old, in a very nice neighborhood, nice yard... was only $750 a mo for 3/2...
