Do you ladies know of any site that would tell about any of the FOB's? I have googled the one JM will be at... and all it gives is news releases about the FOB which isn't too helpful. I just want to know like where it is, and what kinds of things they have there... like you know if he has internet at all or not?

I wouldn't think they would have too much info on the internet about the actual FOBs for security reasons. I know I tried to search Mikes and came up with a little info but not a lot....I would also think that most of the FOBs have internet and phones, it's whether or not your solider winds up at some type of out post. When Mike had "time off" and they spent 2 days at their FOB he always had internet/phone access it's when he was out running missions from their outpost that's when he had pretty much nothing.

Well... even location... haha is there any way to find out what part of the freaking sandbox they will be located in???
Ive seen picks when I googled it of the living quarters on flicker... looks fun (not lol)

They won't tell you where they are on the net. You can find sites that list the names of the, but I doubt you will find out in what area they are in. That's up to your Soldier to tell you in so many words.

the CO or 1st SGT should give out info about where they will be at pre-deployment briefings and things like that. Tell JM to get you the info. That's what they did before Mike deployed.

That's how we got our info! I don't think they guarantee phones or internet anywhere, so you wont find that online. The best you can get is if someone violates OPSEC and posts about where their husband is. The FRG is your best bet there...

Jay's Commander just told us the general area, like Northern Iraq, near the Iraq Border, but never said exactly where or the name of the base. I didn't know the name of the base till I got Jay's mailing address. Kristen, you are lucky! lol

We have the exact name...and they even showed us google map shots and pointed out everything there.

When we went to the deployment briefing, they showed us the area they would be at, but they didn't give us any names or anything like that. They just showed us a google map and pointed it out.

Great. Im going to look at that website! Even just a general area... like nort or south would be good to know! Grr... lol oh well. As soon as he gets me involved with the FRG I hope I get more info!

I'm sure you'll have a better idea when he gets there. Mike was able to tell me I'm outside...such and such. JM should be able to give you most of the information you're looking for!

Well he told me what its close to already... I looked up the city, cant find where its located on maps... but the picks google brings up of the city are BEAUTIFUL!
Well crap I only know what city it's in, I don't know anything else other than that. Which is preferable to me.

haha Alana... you can always google it! But then again. I do think the middle east is a beautiful place... when its not war torn! Think about it... the buildings are BEAUTIFUL!
I'm sure they were. But I would prefer he stay RIGHT on his fob and not sight see :p
