As most of you know, my husband got stationed in Korea for his FDS. Due to some family/medical situations we were able to submit letters from our doctors to try and get a compassionate tour. There was a guy in my husbands unit who wanted Korea and got Knox and wanted to switch. So with him wanting to switch + the medical documentation/letters we were really hoping they would swap them but they told us "its not a guarantee it'll happen".
My husbands AKO/ASK/ERB had updated with the Korea orders... So I've been checking it daily to see if there were any changes. Last friday there was a compassionate/EFMP tab that appeared that was not there before but there was not any details on it yet. Then Today his Korea details and Ft. Polk home base information was all deleted and everything is blank again!
I'm really hoping this means they are swapping him!!! I'm *trying* not to get my hopes up but at the same it's so hard not to!! I keep praying that things will work out in the end and my family can get settled, welcome our new baby girl and grieve the loss of our son and start to move forward in life.
I do know that the ft. Knox unit the other guy got does deploy at the end of the year to Afghanistan, so it kind of sucks but I am so happy that DH will have a few months to spend with his baby girl to help cope and grieve our son and hopefully get him in a better mental stability than our family is in right now. I was so worried that the 30 days home before Korea wouldn't be enough to get him through a year of being away.
Cross your fingers!!! I'll be so grateful if the Army works with us!
