Josh needs new ACU's really bad.... We have been stalling buying them becuase we heard rumors of them possibly issuing him new ones, but that's not gonna happen.... I really HATE the idea of shelling out $80 a uniform... the cheapest I have seen them has been on the US calvary site for 39.99 a piece (top & bottom) and I know he gets good use out of them but JEEEZ!!!!

So I turn to you seasoned girls... Any places you guys turn to? Any advice? I mean we have the money to go get them... I just cringe when I think that I want to buy him 4-5 new sets... thats ALOOOOT of money!!!! Anyway we can cut the expense down would be great, ultimately though, his ACU's have had it...and look awful!!!

Well we bought 2 at US Cav but went to Military Clothing and Sales recently and they were cheaper.
Are the uniforms in bad shape or just the velcro? There is a sewing place here that will fix them really cheap. On 2 of Adam's uniforms from BCT we had them re-velcroed and a few spots sewn for cheaper than a new uniform.
They just announced that the guys going to Afghanistan will get the new ones issued, so we lucked out on that. Have you seen the new boots too?

I don't know if the Army will issue the guys new ones if they aren't deploying but the Army did announce that they are changing the Camo pattern not really sure when it will go into effect for guys stateside but the guys deploying will get the new pattern as early as this summer. Here's an article about it.

I don't know how this will impact your decision maybe you shouldn't buy as many uniforms so he doesn't end up not getting enough use out of them before they switch to the new one.

If he knows any National Guard guys some of them sell or give away their barely used uniforms when they finish their service.

I knew about the new Camo pattern, but there doesn't seem to be a straight answer about when they are going to start it... his uniforms are TRASHED they are almost 2 yrs old.... they survived his year long deployment and he has been home for 1 yr this week.... they have been sewn dozens of times, the material is sooo thin and faded now it just looks like GARBAGE!!! the velcro really isn't the prob... So although I'm aware there may be a new pattern out soon, I'm not sure we can wait buying more ACU's.. this has been part of why we have held off so long.. hoping they would put out more answers on WHEN they would put out the new camo pattern. Anyway, the best thing I can think of doing is to only buy a few new ACU's to get him thru...

I didn't know about the new boots though, I haven't heard anything about those...

FYI in my opinion the new camo pattern and boots are UUUUGGGGLLLLLY but I suppose it's not a fashion contest now is it??

Are those boots only ankle high??? if so thats a super DUMB idea!!!

depends on what they're made of ...hubs calf high boots are solid to above the ankle joint and then soft up to the calf. As long as the ankle joint is enveloped in the "high top" style boot it should be just fine in terms of ankle rolling/sprains. They look like hiking boots which is probably a good thing for mountains in afghan....

the new pattern is pretty ugly but i thought the same about the acus...guess they grow on you lol,

Katie Mike and I used to buy his unis at a "trading" post type place right off post called the Foxhole. Apparently they're pretty common around the bigger bases, you can buy NEW gear for a cheaper price...problem is finding the right sizes...the "average" size tends to run out really quickly.

Katie... this is why I am thankful hubs was at Bliss, its a HUGE test station, he honestly has 6 ruck sacks, and over 50 uniforms... Josh doesnt wear mediums does he??? Lol if he can fit into medium long pants when hubs is home we can send you a few pairs :) He was getting stuff left and right down at bliss, and never signed hand receipts for them, everything was "test material, test string ect ect" lol, lucky for us, or maybe unlucky... really over 50 uniforms and 6 rucks... what the heck are we gona do with it all??? lol

Here's an article that talks about who will get the new multicam first. Its basically like we thought guys deploying in July or so will get it first then guys already in Afghanistan. They don't even say when the guys in the US will get it.

No info on cheap acu's, but I must say that I agree...the new camo is horrible. lol! But as long as it keeps the guys hidden over there, that's all that really matters. And I heard they weren't getting them stateside, just if they go to Afghan? Not sure.

Adam got the new boots! He loves them because they are 10x more comfortable!! I figured he would have got the new MultiCam but instead he just all new and improved equipment with ACU print. I guess he's not going to get Multicam before he deploy's or at all??!!??
