Well hubs is in AIT and should find out where our first duty station is on March 15th however because he's an E-5 they said that they may get his done and assigned sooner....

Here are his picks, what do you know about these places?
(CONUS)
+ Ft. Cambell, KY
+ Ft. Polk, LA
+ Ft. Hood, TX

(OCONUS)
+ Alaska
+ Germany
+ Hawaii

I'm so super nervous about moving.... eek!

Kara, Our last duty station was Fort Hood, and personally I loved it. I love hot weather though....and I do mean HOT!!! In the summer most days are 95+ and HUMID as hell! This winter I hear has been a freak winter for TX but the winter I spent there was really fairly mild, only one month of cold weather, the rest was 50's... We lived in a town called Copperas Cove (border town to Hood) it was a really nice small community, very family oriented and only 3 minutes from the back gate. There is also Killeen, Harker Heights, and ofcourse on post for housing. The base is HUUUUGE!!! There are 2 commisarys (sp?) 2 Main Px's and like a million shoppettes... If you have any specific questions regarding Hood feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to answer them.

Also keep in mind until he has PAPER orders.. Things could change.. My husband was given 3 different set of duty stations until his final orders don't count your chickens... I almost rented a place in HAWAII once he was told he was going to be stationed there.. THANK GOD I didn't becuase 3 days later he was handed paperwork for FORT HOOD...

We are at Fort Campbell. I love it here but just to let you know 3rd, 2nd and 4th BCT's are deploying this year some are already gone. Anyways like I said I love it here. We live off post but very close to Ft Campbell ( like 5 minutes max to gate 4 ). I am in Clarksville, TN but I border KY ( there is also Oak Grove, KY and Hopkinsville, KY ). There really isn't much to do during the winter but when it's warmer out there are so many great things to do if you like outdoor activities.

I don't know anything about any of them. Some help I am lol I do know that the cost of living is SUPER high in Hawaii and a lot of people I know who live there complain about ho expensive everything is.

We were stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. I do know not to count on anything until you have the officially orders.

I was pretty nervous about moving too but you have whats important...each other! Everything other than that is cool. You gotta just roll with the punches though. Try not to let it stress you out. Try to enjoy it!

If I had my choice of all those I would pick Germany. That is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I've heard wonderful things about Germany...

Yeah those are just his choices, I've dealt with enough last minute order changes to know that you can't count on the military for ANYTHING in this aspect of things lol.

I just want an idea of the places. I'm down for where ever we go. Kentucky would be awesome because we are from Indianapolis and with a brand new baby it would be nice to be 4 hours from home BUT again... I love traveling So whatever works.

I've also heard awesome things about Germany but I don't know anything about any of the bases you mentioned. There's talk floating around that they're gonna be sending J to South America for some kind of relief work either this summer or the next. I have absolutely no idea why. He's also planning to go active as soon as someone can find him as open position. Which means I'll be heading to court to rework my custody agreements in case we get stationed wherever.
