This might just be me, but I had when someone asks how long DH is gone and I tell them and they say something like "I could never be away from my husband that long".

It's not like I freakin ASKED the army to take him away. It's not like before he left I though, oh sure 8 months, no problem!!! It's not like we're not really in love and separation is just like whatever.

OMG MEEEE TOO!! I get it from the nurses in school with me ALL THE TIME. They are like i dont know how you do it I couldnt be away from my boyfriend for more than a week... im like...

1. hes MY HUSBAND, not boyfriend
2. a week is NOTHING... try a year

It annoys the crap out of me when they say things like that. Automatically for some reason the first thing that pops into their minds too is sex. Like "OMG I couldn't not have sex for a year" Seriously? Thats what you think you would miss the most if your husband and best friend was gone for a year? WOW... Really that is one of the least of my concerns when my husband is gone, I mean It sucks, but it isn't on the top of my list... stupid civies

I'm with you all, except the longest deployment I've had to deal with is 8 months... And people still freak out when Itell them how long he's gone for. I don't understand why? One of my friends understands how hard it is, and I think the only reason she does is because her husband is a trucker... and he is always in and out of the house... Personally, I would think that harder than if they were gone for an extended amount of time... I bet it's hard for her having him coming and going every week or every other week....

I think being a trucker's wife would be worse too. I can see an end to all this deploying and stuff...it's not going to be our lives forever. Even if he did go career, it's only 20 years!

I would also think being a truckers wife would be harder... more goodbyes. Not to mention, what our men do is def dangerous, but think of how many driving accidents there are??? Not to say one is MORE dangerous than the other, but I would worry none the less. And I am not sure they recieve the same support and understanding we do.

I'm with you girls...I hate being away from Jamie but a weekend away or a week away is a heck of a lot easier than a year....and I'm very grateful that I do get to see mine every night, but i dont take it for granted because I think of you ladies everyday!! My hunnie has a dangerous job (risk of being hit or shot ect..) but Im thankful that if something happend to him I'd know right away, I feel for you ladies because I've been in your shoes, and I love you all more for it because your so strong and wonderful!!!!

I don't know exactly what you ladies go through since Josh and I have yet to face a deployment. But I Definatly have much respect for those of you that deal with this on a daily basis. I don't know how hard it must be first hand, because my biggest fear is that soon he'll get the call and he'll have to go. I'm sure though that I would be able to cope as long as I have you ladies.
