NC jut went totally smoke free in all public places. I work in a restarant and this is really hurting business, not to mention tips. I don't know why this is relevant but it is a current event and I just thought I'd share my frustration. lol

Washington did that a few years back and while it hurt the businesses, it picked up real fast! I am glad they did it, personally. I was a smoker, so I'm not judging, but I would rather not have my kids exposed to it, otherwise, I may have continued smoking!
I remember this happening in Dallas a loooong time ago. I'm sure business will pick back up!

I'm a smoker (cough cough) bad habit I know, but doesn't mean i want to smell it everywhere I go, or expose my kids to it.. I use to work at a bar, and it was AWFUL.. when they banned smoking buisness took a dive at first but picked right back up.. It will work out, people just need to adjust.
Back in MA it was banned, but here it's not I assume cause we were asked twice smoking or non and ciggs are dirt cheap here, too, BIL got a carton of Marlboro for 30.00in MA it's about 63.00!!

its been like that here too, but its not too terrible. I dont know if it hurt any businesses at all, I mean for real, if people stop eating in restruants because the whole town is smokefree and everything, ppl here have to drive over a hour to the next town that ISNT smoke free lol... sooo give it time!

They also did this back home a while ago, however they adjusted by making incased glass rooms for the smokers. Not in all restaurants by any means, but in the bars and in most of the Tim Horton's (aka the coffee shops). They are a great idea and work well, but being a non-smoker this is just my opinion!

I have cut way back and am currently quitting with baby hopefully still on the way. I like the non smoking in public thing and hopefully business will pick up soon. People will realize soon enough that if they want to smoke in public that bad they're gonna have to drive to SC.

this happened in NY years ago, and businesses slowed in the beginning, but it will pick back up once people get used to it :)

That's happening here in Texas..of course not everywhere though..afterall it IS Texas..haha I'm a smoker myself and I agree that restaurants should probably be smoke free but I also feel that you should be able to smoke in bars. lol Just my opinion!

We have the same thing here. You can't even smoke within 10 feet of a building or on hospital or college campuses. But I agree with Katie. I am a smoker, too, but I don't like to have smoke in my face while I'm trying to eat. Some people have no consideration for others. I don't mind going somewhere separate to smoke. It sucks sometimes, but if you don't feel like walking a few feet away from a building to smoke, then you obviously don't need to smoke too bad lol! I have cut WAY back since we moved back up to the cold!
