View Full Version : Counting R&R days
okay I know R&R begins when he lands in Atlanta...but do I count the day he gets there as a full day or is the first counted day the first actually complete day he's here?

I'm not entirely sure but I think it counts as soon as he gets off the plane as his first full day. When will he be home?

Well lucky me, john-mark had a very early flight into missouri, he was at my house by noon, and its a 2 hour drive here from the airport! But im not really sure... I as well think it starts the min he touches american soil
yeah that's what I was afraid of. M has a 7 hour layover in Atlanta...booooo

I could be wrong but your soldier would know more about it than I would. Sorry about the layover like they aren't away enough already right? All I can say is I hope you enjoy the time that you do have together as I'm sure you will. When does he head back out?

Josh says...his time should start the following day after he lands in atlanta... EX:
if he lands in ATL @ 12 noon today his official R&R clock will start @ 12 noon WED.... Does that make sense?
That is the way it worked for us. (and my hubs has flown home for 2 leaves) if that is any help.

Her answer is better. Hope she's right and you guys have fun though I don't see much rest or relaxation in your guys future although I'm sure he'll spend plenty of time in the bed. Lol!!!!

I know I am a bit late on this and hope that you guys were able to figure out.
On R&R it is rough how they do it. How the days work is:
Once the soldier reaches their FINAL destination their R&R starts at midnight that night. So if they get stuck in an airport or flights are delayed until the next day etc - until they reach that final stop on their itinerary no tme is charged to them.

FYI for next time Erin...tell him to talk to the airline and see if he get get on an earlier flight, Mike wasn't supposed to get to albany until afternoon sometimes and he got himself on an earlier flight and landed in NY at 9 or 10 in the morning instead. If they have room they'll bump him up if they can!
