Okay, so cody and I are in the same RSP unit (thus why I'm only a 'sorta' girlfriend) which is the nationalguard version of the DEP program. This issue with this would be that they hold us by the same stands as other actual units (aka no dating/flirting/anything with other soldiers or were gonna boot ur a$$ out) :rulez: . So we've only been "seeing" eachother on the DL. We figured when one of us shiped for training it wouldn't be a biggie... only thing now is he had to go to court for something that caught up with him from when he lived in LA and now they are saying that they dont know when he is shiping!! They've changed his date about 4 times since august (he's been in since May) and now are saying that he will probably ship AFTER me (and I ship in June)... this is just gettin frustraiting... sorry to vent... just not sure what to do... and he's been down in the dumps a lot lately which is worring me... :( :tear:

it's orignal!!! :busted: lol
and yea, it's pretty frustraiting we're hoping something will come up, because they've already changed MY ship date twice, once to move it up then again to move it back a couple of weeks... yet their not sure what to do with him... he's worried they might just discharged him because of the court stuff, they have been discharging people a lot lately because they want to put people in who are "better qualified" then those of us who are in and haven't shipped yet... *sigh* i dont know...

Well.. if you ship before him... problem solved. Thats terrible to say but, as long as you are not an officer and hes enlisted or whatever... think about it... Look how many ppl end up married because they were in the same unit. My husband has many dual military marriages and the ppl met because they worked together.

I think its a huge deal to scare people. For real... if you are worried about it, just stay friends for now, but technically as long as you are both enlisted or officers, it shouldnt matter. The worst they can do is make you prove the relationship was preexisting, and if he doesnt ship till after you, thats not a big deal!

Does that make any sense?

right now were both enlisted but next spring (after I'm finnished with my training) I'm signing a contract with ROTC. It's not so much that were worried, especially since it's common knowledge that one of the recrutiers was sleeping with a recruite of his late last year before she shipped, it's that the other soldiers really start to treat you differently, ive seen it happen sadly

Holli.. trust me.. Im rotc, my husband is enlisted, I know what the drama is like, he gets shit for it all the time, but its good natured shit... but he just simply tells ppl that nurses cant be enlisted lol were always officers ;)

But let ppl talk shit... its fucking (pardon my french) stupid. You are not any less for meeting a guy in your unit and falling for him. Big deal, the army doesnt completely turn us all into robots and make us emotionless.
The only reason other soldiers would treat you differently is because they are jealous... so let them be

Yep Yep... it will all work out. Trust me. The only thing is if you go Officer and hes enlisted... you have to be able to prove the relationship was preexisting... ie marriage license, or something along those lines... I know that was the case with both john-mark and I active duty... not sure how it would work in the guard or reserves though... so you totally have time to think about it all and work it out!
