Can anyone tell me what WLC is all about? Hubby's unit has requested it like 4 or 5 times and he keeps getting disapproved (for various reasons) but I just wanna know what it's all about in case one of these times he actually gets approved for it.

Warrior Leader Course!
From what I understand they are supposed to go sometime before becoming a NCO (or shortly after becoming one) John-Mark went... grr they took away his leave before he deployed because of it. Basically its a lot of classes and PT tests lmao. But he did fine at it, graduated number 1 in his "class" actually!
He had to write a bunch of papers and study a crap ton of stuff and attend classes like all day though. He got lucky, Fort Bliss is one of the places that does WLC, so he had a car, they had most weekends free, so he got to go back to his barracks and talk to me on the webcam for weekends and what not... but he WILL GET HIS PHONE THROUGHOUT IT ALL!!!
Only bad thing... there are not many bases that have WLC... I know bliss does for sure, but I cant remember all the others that do.
I am pretty sure its only a 2 week long thing!
I'm pretty sure big M did that, and that would mean that they do it at Bragg also.
Yeah it's a 2 week thing. I'll have to look back on some things...

Ahh I got ya....the emails he's gotten has Stewart listed as the location, and it's a 3 week thing, we're just getting kind of tired of this, he's only in the reserves and JUST got back from AIT. This wouldn't be such a big deal if we were active duty, but we aren't, and he'll be completely finished in less than a year. Just seems like we've had to go through a lot lately, and it's just difficult with his job, but we're really lucky because his boss is a LTC in the national guard, so at least they understand. Another thing I just thought of, he's flagged for failure of his PT, so I don't see how they could or would put him through something you need for promotion if he's not promotable? Ugh, thanks for your help though!!
I think thats one of those things in the army that makes no sense. DH went through as an E4 when a bunch of soldiers that were already E6 and E7 in his company hadn't been through the class.

Well he finally got approved for it at Benning, which isn't so terrible, but we were reading through the stuff for it and it looks like they can't go ANYWHERE, which blows, but we aren't sweating it too much, it's only 3 weeks, it's some good extra money (we're trying to build a new computer and this will definitely help) but I seriously think it's a complete waste of time and the army's money cause he hasn't passed a PT test since getting back from Iraq and is nowhere close to height/weight, so he wont completely pass it. His unit is insistent on him going, so okie dokie!

You sound super pissed hun, But we understand don't we ladies. Josh says that the PT thing won't matter cause they'll just make him do extra to bring it up and he'll get extra promotion points for it. Good Luck tou you and to him

I'm actually just kinda "whatever" about it. I've just learned not to worry about the small stuff like this when it comes to the military cause there is nothing that can be done about it, so just move on

umm I think thats one of those army things....lol. Def needed to be an NCO...but I'm not sure when they started requiring....so like Erin said there are guys who are e6, e7 who never took it. They tried to make Mike go right after he got home last time and he just refused...he had no interest in leaving home for a month after he had just gotten home and has no interest in being a sgt lol...anyway sounds like the extra money will help!!
sorry the army is such a pain in the ass....they def just do what they want lol.

Yeah Bryan has no interest in being a sgt either, but the extra money is good, and he wont have to do the month-long annual training in California in June, which was going to make him miss his own college graduation, so we're liking this deal MUCH more!!

lol well I'm glad it worked out for you guys!! Mike was supposed to miss Thanksgiving and my birthday...which essentially has been the only holiday we've actually gotten to spend physically together so I'm glad he told them he didn't want to do it :)
