My bf was discharged from the Air Force (I just can't stay away from those military boys lol) after a training accident. Some equipment malfunction resulted in him falling out of a helicopter and shattering his ankle. Multiple surgeries later he now has a shiny metal ankle. This was around 3 years ago.
As of last night the AF has contacted him saying that he still owes a year and they want to deploy him. He's trying to fight it. Curious if any of you have dealt with something similar? And if so what was the outcome?
He was completely discharged for medical reasons? He should have (tons and tons of) paperwork from that. Has he looked through that?

Yea he does have all his paperwork somewhere. I can't seem to get him to look through it in a calm fashion though. He is on a major tear and I'm kind of just watching him until he loses steam and sits down for a minute. He's been like this all day. :(
I figured it would be easier to ask you ladies while I wait for him to calm down.

Yeah he needs to get all the paper work together and get it to whoever is in charge. My husband went through something a little similar and he's still dealing with it. Short version he has had several problems with heat exhaustion but the Army doesn't have him on a profile so at least once he has gone to his command and shown them medical records because they wanted to deploy him. Since my husband is National Guard now he's going to his own Civilian Doctor to try and figure out if there's something that's causing this heat problem so he can get put on medication or whatever is needed.
When he calms down offer to help him look through the paper work. I remember when my husband called me from drill all excited that they were going to deploy him etc. But once his command saw all the paperwork and realized that this was real they took him off the list for deployment.

I don't think this is completely true, but I do think if he doesn't want to go back and he is still hurt that he should be able to successfully fight it.

I had a friend that SHOULD have been medically discharged and wasn't, they wanted to deploy him and he was effed up in Iraq (fractured back, brain injury, etc) and he got out of it. They'll get their stuff straight, hopefully he'll calm down!

Well he has finally calmed down enough to get his paperwork together. Hopefully he will hear back soon. He doesn't want to go and I cant blame him. Metal ankle aside he has PTSD that he is just getting under control. Deployment would be a huge problem for him.
