Do we have any Ft. Drum Girls? Past or present? What were your thoughts of the base and the surrounding areas?

I am pretty positive this is now our next base we find out this week, he has submitted the paperwork and they had a slot open. I was just curious of people's thoughts of the base.

I am looking forward to being 6 hrs from family as opposed to the 39 we are now. lol

All I know is that it's in NY. LOL Mere might know something about it.

I've never been there but Mike and I are looking at it being his next duty station if he re-ups again....like you said 6 hour drive is better than the 6 hour lose a day flight to be closer to family. From what I understand Fort Drum is cooooooooooooolllllllllld like SUPER cold!! lol I'm sure being from NH it wouldn't be total culture shock for you but Mike said it tends to be colder than the typical NE in the winter. They have the biggest PX conus! Which is kinda cool. But I believe it's kind of in the middle of nowhere upstate NY...although most of upstate NY is middle of nowhere lol. (being closer to family is well worth being cold and in the middle of nowhere to me :) )

I know some of the bases are def dumpy but I think a lot of them are what you make of it. Upstate NY is beautiful! With Josh and the boys I'm sure you could have a wonderful home there!

I haven't personally been there, but a buddy of mine has. He loved it, but it is wickedly cold. It is out in the middle of nowhere, but supposedly everything you need is right there on post. He said his wife never left post because there was so much there. That seemed kinda weird to me but....ok.

I am from NH so I am not worried about the cold, but I would imagine it is freezing it is right off lake Ontario.

All I know is that its freezing! I know two girls that where there and thats basically what they said lol. Like kristi said Aubrey would know!

Yeah I appreciate it, but it doesn't matter now, he got word they are not granting his request to go there as they are partially already deployed and the ones that aren't will be. So as a counter offer they offered freakin Korea....... yeah cuz wanting to go to Drum to be close to family in NH is kinda the same as moving to another f***ing continent..... whatever.

They also mentioned soemthing in Georgia but I was soo pissy I can't remmeber I think it was Ft. Stewart.......

Korea man that sux. We're at stewart....we're hoping to get the hell out of here though. I hate it. The area i like just not the post. I wish ya'll could get what ya'll want!

Well since I live in NJ I hear things about Fort Drum a lot
One of my friends that I graduated with is stationed up and deployed right now and she HATES that base.
You're probably better off becuase I've never really heard anything good about Drum.
Did you guys figure out where you're going next yet?
