Does anybody know what happens if your DH can't pass the PT test in AIT? Hubby is fine until it comes time to run because he has AWFUL shin splints, and I'm just curious about what may or may not happen if he can't pass it.

DH failed his first AIT PT and nothing happened. There was another kid in his company that never passed and he graduated.

I figured he would graduate, but did they hold him past graduation for whatever reason?

No he left with everyone else. He was even at the graduation ceremony.

If it comes down to it, they will "recycle" him, which means the next reg or whatever they call them that comes through after him, he will just hang out and to PT until they take their PT test, then he would graduate with them... normally its only a week if even that. But thats if the DI really wants to recycle them... but it doesnt usually happen that often!

Most of the time they do give second chances, and then they'll recycle them, and if they fail multiple times, then there are consequences, but they're pretty understanding that sometimes people just have bad days or bad tests.

My hubby went to AIt at Ft.Gordon,Ga and there was a guy that fail the last one and they told him he had to stay back til he pass. But I guess it all depends on where ur at and what the sgts r like.

Josh says that they'll hold him until he can pass. He also says to tell him to wrap his feet with tape and it'll get rid of the shin splints. Hope this helps out your hubbs.

Lol, they told him they couldn't hold him because he's reserves, so they didn't hold him and they said he had to come back within 90 days (which was back on December 30) and retake the PT test....we haven't heard a word from anyone, sooooo yeah...I think his unit just cared that he passed the academic part, which he did, soooo yeah they don't care lol cause he's in the reserves I guess

I do know with the Guard during initial training you will still graduate but you will be red flagged and non promotable until you pass the PT test. Several guys in my husbands unit were red flagged. I think the same consequences go for them when they don't pass at the weekend drills also. After so many attempts and failures you can get pay degraded and discharged but I think that's absolute worst case scenario.

I'm sure they'll give him a second chance or more to re-do it. My hubs didn't do well on his today either :( so I'm sure he'll have to re-take it again here soon
