So this is our first PCS. I just got on the waiting list at Ft Bragg, but our average wait time is 92 days. He reports in 4 weeks. Does it usually take the amount of time they say or do ppl fall off the list and you get in faster than expected?

It depends. If you guys get there and there isn't a house available you will probably be put into temp. lodging until something opens up for you. Sometimes people drop from the list because they decide to live off post. It all varies on the base. Good luck getting a house sooner!!

It totally depends we were told our wait was 0 days, but we ended up waiting 2 months in hotel and temp housing... but it was worth the wait, i like our housing.

Ok so if there isn't a house available when we get there they will find somewhere to put us whether it be hotel or temp housing? Or do we need to look at some places off post as a back up? I really want to live on post.

They might be able to set you up with temp housing but DO NOT rely on them, we had to find our own hotel for 2 weeks on our own, then for two weeks when temp housing became avail. they put us in it, but we had to pay 460 to stay there for 2 weeks. and they don't really tell you that till you get there...

Well that sucks. I just didn't want to pay application fees and deposits if I could stay in temp housing til something on post was available. So was the hotel stay refunded to you or was that out of your pocket?

Well after your hubby inprocesses, he will submit all his travel pay stuff and they will reimburse him for his travel expenses including hotel cost for up to 10 days. If you stay on post housing, then you don't pay a deposit or aplication fee (at least not here we didn't have to and they deducted our rent directly from his paycheck we didn't pay it to them they just took our BAH)
HOPE That helps. PM me for my private info if you have more questions I would be happy to answer them...

Hey Courtney! I'm at Fort Bragg too! We pushed our housing through in a few days 'cause we couldn't wait, but we're also in a crummy house. (it's due to be renovated in a few months) if you're looking for on post housing- beware there will be a prorate if you move in before the first (Zach and I didn't know that) and you will have to pay it. pm me if you have any questions or to get together when you get settled in!
