a little advice for taking over finances while deployed...

Mike paid 3 bills before he left (I paid the rest of em), all of his credit cards. well he gave me the acct numbers and passwords....and I'm locked out of one of them and they won't talk to me to fix it lol. Not a big deal i can mail the payment but my advice for any of you who will take over online payments for hubs while he's away: sit down with him and actually log onto his accounts from the computer YOU will use to pay the bills....for the life of me I can't answer Mike's security questions...and it's not like I don't know I just answer them differently. Like one was where were you on new years 2000? And he thought home and I wrote the name of his home town lol.

On the bright side, if your wife can't answer them I guess it works pretty well lol but it really sucks when your husband signs up for paperless statements and then you can't get online to pay the damn bill lol.

Soo yeah. Don' t get caught in that mistake because I already made it for you! lol

awww mere soooo true. I didnt take over any of his bills... he didnt have any but loans out... we both refuse to have a credit card so thats a good thing, but his cell phone bill got all messed up, and i wasnt on the account so i couldnt do anything... it was a HUGEEE hassle

when william was deployed i set up alotments for all the major bills, so that when we got paid whatever was deposited into our account was pretty much ours to do whatever we needed to do.. care packages, food, family outtings with the boys, etc! william opened a seperate account before he left and we set up an alotment for X amount of dollars a month to go into it, i didnt have access to it, so that when he got home we had well over a couple grand saved up for leave when he got home. i used to be really bad with budgetting money so that was the best setup for us, it got everything paid on time!!

scott and i didnt really have any problems cause i pay all the bills anyway.

although we did have a problem with scott spending the bill money. so next time we are getting another account for him to use.

yeah we wanted to set up a seperate account but Mike uses a local credit union in vermont and they wouldn't allow him to have more than one checking account. I was so annoyed!!

Really it's no issue for me pay the rest of the bills cause I pay most of them anyway I just needed to have logged into them on MY computer first. No biggie. I just mailed the payments instead but then it just takes longer to come out of the bank account...

Anyway just didn't want any of you to get stuck in the same situation.
