Okay, with my husband reclassing, are we supposed to get BAH? I'm asking because his LES shows BAH Type II, and it's like less than 5 bucks. I'm thinking it's that low because he's staying in their barracks, but I'm not 100% sure. I've inquired about this to his unit and I've gotten nowhere with them. I also know being Reserves makes a difference with the BAH, but he's on active duty for more than 30 days. Ugh, this is frustrating because I have no clue as to how all this works :banghead: Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

If he is reserves on duty for more than 30 he is supposed to get BAH.

Is he back in AIT yet? If he is then you should get BAH for your zip code.

Here's some info on BAH Type II:
BAH II (Reserve Component/Transit)

BAH-II (RC/T) is the housing allowance for members in particular circumstances, for example, reservists on active duty less than 30 days. It also applies when a member is in transit from selected areas where no prior BAH rate existed. It does not vary by geographic location. BAH-II (RC/T) was set based on the old Basic Allowance for Quarters (BAQ), which was based on the national average for housing. BAH-II is published annually and is determined by increasing the previous year's table by the percentage growth of housing costs

I HTH!

Yes he's been in AIT (well, reclassing) for several weeks and is there for more than 30 days definitely. It's sounding like something he's gonna have to talk to personnel there, grr...I do certainly appreciate your help though!!

I would have him talk to someone cause he should be getting BAH based on his home of record since he's back in AIT.

Good Luck!!

Yeah I had to bug someone for the same thing back when my husband went through Basic. Is it just over the 30 days, I think that was the confusion with mine, because he went through the Basic for prior Navy or Airforce which is shorter then regular basic but just over 30 days.
Also tell him to check to make sure his orders were written for more then 30 days or if you have a copy check it for him. Then he'll have to find out who to talk to at the base he's at. Usually the instructors (not sure what the title is it changes from base to base) are pretty good about helping guys find time to sort out pay issues. If he can get a phone # or email you can try calling but some times they won't talk to spouses.

Good Luck, I feel your pain I hate Army Payroll they are always messing things up. They still owe my hubby pay for 2 drills and some other training but that's another story.

Yeah his orders are for over 30 days, for some strange reason they scheduled this course to overlap two fiscal years (which is gonna be a nightmare come September 30/October 1, I can feel it) I think the main problem is, they have him as single, no dependents....we've been married for 4 years now, figured they would have gotten that straight long ago...*sigh* some people just don't wanna do their job correctly

Well there's your problem since he's listed as single they are giving him BAH without dependents which is less of course. He'll have to get you put back into DEERS I guess somehow they deleted you when he changed MOS or when they switched things from regular drill pay to AIT.
You were in DEERS at one point right, like you have an ID card etc from when he originally enlisted?
I'll never understand why they can't get someone to do a simple payroll job or why everything has to be so complicated. We're currently going through trying to get my hubby's pay fixed too and its been over 4 months. Anyway its a long story but someone finally realized he should be getting drill pay and paid him for August, still no back pay for the other 3 months though. And the crazy part is he and I have talked to 4 different people at the Armory and it seems like no one knows how to straighten it out. The other crazy part is they paid him for August drill but of course he owes life insurance for the 3 months he didn't get paid so they took that all out of August and left him with just over $4.
Anyway good luck I hope they get your hubby's pay straightened out soon. I feel your pain.

Well, so far, its fixed. Strange thing is, I'm in DEERS, always have been, you think all they'd have to do is look there, but they needed our marriage license, so I faxed a copy of that and they said we'll see a back check soon, so we shall see...
