feel like they spend all day picking up toys, and putting socks back on kids and watching cartoons, and picking up pillows to put them back on the couch, or remaking beds...
i love rylie to death but this is just not the life i ever saw me having. i need a break...
or a car that way at least i could take rylie to the park and let him play with other kids, instead of him trying to use me as a jungle gym.

omg please do not hate me for saying this, but play 'fetch' with him. like just go outside and throw the ball and make him get it and bring it back to you and do it over and over again until he gets tired. then put him down for a nap and take some time for yourself :)
JAMIEEE Hahahahahaaaaaaaaa I about died when I read that. You're amazing. Nough Said.

lol jamie that's awesome! haha
Regina, if cleaning up after a child is anything like cleaning up after my husband I kinda feel your pain ;) I should take a picture of my living room for you right now. I refuse to hang out in there cause it stresses me out and I refuse to pick up his gear for him. I clean every other inch of this house he can be in charge of his gear!
Take the little guy for a walk! I know it's probably warm out but just getting out of the house will be nice!

you guys laugh, BUT I'M SO SERIOUS! i do that with the kids i babysit for. or blow bubbles. they have a blast chasing anything and you get a break and get to sit still.
when i went to jersey with a family as their nanny...i couldn't stand letting the kids play with any toys. i hate chasing around cleaning it up. so then i went to the gyno the next monday and got birth control.

Oh, even better than blowing bubbles? Get one of those bubble machines that do it for you, and sit back in the sun and watch the fun. Kids will spend HOURS trying to figure out how those things work. :) Sprinklers are good too.

Belinda. You are the smartest woman in the world. Why didn't i think of the bubble machine?
OH OH OH and if you really want to get stuff down around the house and not do it yourself...tell your kid it's a game and make them do it. lol

Oh yes, you mean the "I bet I can put away more toys than you can! Ready, set, go!" game? I love that game! It works even better with multiple kids, since they'll get really competitive with each other. Of course, when they're old enough, you can go to the "anything left on the floor at bedtime is now my toy, and you don't get it back for a week" system. It's amazing how fast things get picked up. :D

Belinda and Jamie... are you sure you guys dont have kids of your own!?
Bubbles are amazing. So is fetch, but I do get tired of throwing a ball. And m always wants me to pet him afterwards.
We do pillow fights, and that wears him down pretty fast.
Yesterday we "raced" around the playground. I walked.
We do 3-legged races.
To answer your question though, I feel like I am constantly cleaning. Even if I clean right before bedtime, its a disaster when I wake up. I don't know how...

Pretty sure. There better not be any wandering around that I don't know about, that's for sure! You think I'd remember that...*looks around suspiciously*
But I have worked at a daycare, worked as a nanny to a 6 and 9 year old (and puppy) this summer, have two younger siblings, and am great with children. Thus everyone I know asks me to come babysit for them. Thus I learn great things about kids and can magically make children do things like eat vegetables with ease, while anyone else would spend 20 minutes yelling and mad before giving up. I have kid skills, I've been told. Personally, can't wait to have them, but kinda have to wait til I'm out of college, so not for a bit still.

I like how Belinda say 'nanny to a 6 and 9 year old (AND PupPY!)' Bahahha
Yeah, I don't have any kids either. If that happened and I missed it thank god. I just hope they don't come looking for me later and ask me for money.

Well, I started out the summer with the 6 and 9 year olds. Both girls, and they weren't too bad. Sure, I'm pretty sure the younger one gets everything she wants by throwing tantrums and her parents just give in to her, but we solved that pretty quickly (tantrum==sitting in your room til Belinda decides to let you out). Then, 2 weeks before I'm supposed to be done...they get a puppy. Not a cute, little puppy, but an 8 month old, pitbull mix, untrained puppy. Ohhhhh, it was not so good. Spent two weeks praying the dog wouldn't decide the children were food. But now I'm done working there, so not my problem anymore.

I did a one week stint as a nanny this summer and I will never do it again. Ever. it was great money but it was terrible. The grandmother (who wasn't paying me to be there) made me do her laundry, yelled at me, etc etc and gave the kids treats...lots of treats, which inturn gave them yucky diapers. And on top of that I got a 48 hour tummy flu and STILL was responsible for the kids 100%. The family was too busy sitting in the sun and driniking. Ugh. No way.

bubble machines are awesome, we used to have one, my boys would chase the bubbles and i could sit there and watch, and belinda i play the "pick up the most toys" game too, i found thats the only way my kids will clean their room. if i turn it into some sort of competition, between mommy and them.

fetch is key.
I feel your pain Regina! I even have Meredith's problem as well..lol. So I got 3 boys. I didn't become a full time SAHM until a few months after Adam left. It was great back then. Donovan had his horseback riding lessons and we were going every 2 weeks to Boston, so we were always busy. Here we are so freakin' bored. No family to visit, no more appointments, no lessons, nothing.
They know my secrets to getting them put the toys away, my oldest has some great stories why he can't do anything. The thing is he learned from their father, UGH!!
Hang in there it will get easier!! At least this is what I keep telling myself..lol.

I feel your pain... but that is the life of a SAHM... Working doesn't always pay enough to put them in daycare... so most times, women wait until after they start school to go back to work.
One thing I got involved in is MOPS (Moms Of Pre-Schoolers) I love it and am sooo glad I got involved with them! It's not free, but it is cheap, and you get mommy time, and they get play time. It's a wonderful day for all!!!

hmm i think ive heard of that before. i should look into it.
and your right i have every intenchtion to to go back to work. im going to get my dregeer online and i want to teach any grade under 2nd. but i dont want to do it till rylie starts school. i think im going to see if i can get him into day care once a week cause the one on base is great and there cheap too. i think that will help.
