i just came back on post from running errands, and the guards at the gate were scanning every id that passed, to make sure they were legit, and not expired, its the first time its ever happened here, is that going on at any other bases??

wow they dont do that here. and marines dont even cheak ids unless its after 10, as long as you have stickers on your car.

When I went to FT Sill for graduation they scanned mine, but it was only once. I WISH they would do that here though. Lately since it was Week of the Eagles they have been letting anyone on post and that irks me a little.

today was my first time it happened, they normally look at them, they dont even look at the people in the car, they just look at all the id's and hand them back, but today they scanned them, when i called a friend she said they did that to them yesterday, so i guess its a new thing!

oh regina, thats crazy, a few weeks ago we were at a funday offpost with williams battalion, it started raining and in all the hustle and confusion i took williams wallet with me, about an hour later when he was coming home they made him sit outside the gate and wait for me to bring his wallet back, his 1st sgt and a few other people who knew him passed and they would not let anyone vouch for him that they knew him or that he was their soldier, they wanted a military id!! it makes me feel safe that they are so strict about it but at the same time it can be a pain in the butt!!!

That's how it's been on every base I've been to, all the time. Fort Bragg, Rucker, Pope AFB and MacDill AFB.

It was like that at Benning too, but we were going into the BCT part of the base...maybe the rule was different there.

They pretty much scan our id's everytime we drive on up here. If there is a big line up sometimes they will just look at it and let you go, but for the most part they scan away!

i was just wondering, because ive been here at benning for over a year now and it was my first time ever!! i asked william when he got home and he said they are doing it post-wide here now starting sept 1, for the commissary and everywhere!! they didnt do it at knox when we lived there for 2 years, so i just thought it was pretty crazy!!

im not sure if they're scanning them here. I haven't been on post since before leave but Mike and I have a vehicle safety check?? Like it wasn't the stand vehicle search, they scanned his drivers license to make sure he didn't have any outstanding tickets or anything and checked to make sure all his signal lights worked. it was weird.

I know they had 2 16 year old girls get into some trouble in one of our barracks but they wouldn't have had military id's so I guess that wouldn't help anyone...unless they got a fake one somehow??

they didn't do it at Ft McCoy or here at Ft Lewis. I know I need to renew my ID since it expires next month.

scott told me the other day that they dont do there here cause there are so many people here it would take hours to get through the gate if they did.

they check ids on the navy side of the base which is the side we live on and it takes scott 45 min to get to work some mornings when with out traffic it would take 5. its even like that coming off the base between 3 and 6 cause theres its only a 2 lane road.

Traffic at Bragg really sucks, especially between like 8:30-10 in the morning, and 4-6 or sometimes later. We lived a mile off the base, and traffic would easily be backed up a mile past our house.

Taylor its been going on here at benning now for over a year. They have recently within 2 wks now started scanning ids for tobacco and alcohol purchases, so they can keep up with who is buying that stuff, and if you are of age. I think its cool cause it stops the underage drinking. People used to just glance at the id but wouldnt check the age. Now they have to scan for those purchases and at the end of their shift if the amount of alcohol/tobacco purchases dont match the amount of id scans, then the cashier gets in alot of trouble.

They dont scan them yet at campbell, but they do everywehre else. If you shop at the shopette, the PX, the comissary, or go to any of the gyms they scan you

Still scanning at Bragg, and Rucker. I've never been to a base where they didn't scan IDs...
