Ok ladies we just got our duty station - Fort Bragg it is. I saw on another thread that some of you have lived there so I need advice. Is the housing nice on post? Is the neighborhood around post nice to live off if we wanted? Which would you recommend? I just need some details and your opinions so I know what to expect! Thanks

Oooh exciting!! DH just deployed from Bragg and we went home, but we will be back there in March! When do you PCS?

The housing is touch and go. Personally I found that there were nicer option for less money off post, and then you get to pocket some BAH. Check out ahrn.com for house rentals. If you want an apartment look on Morganton Rd or Cliffdale in Fayetteville, or there's a few places north of the base in Spring Lake. We're actually hoping to rent a house in Lillington which is kinda far north of the base. It's a cute little town though, kinda countryish.

Oh yeah, Fayetteville goes nice to bad in a heartbeat, and then back again. Like, the apartments on Morganton Rd are all really nice, but the houses are all pretty bad.

Oh if you do decide to go with base housing there are 2 communities that are brand new. They are not technically on base, and are actually both a bit of a drive from the base. But they are seriously brand new. One is in raeford, and it's Heritage something I think. The other is just north of spring lake, in cameron I think. I've heard mixed reviews though...something about the fact that its mostly families living there, and since its far from the city the kids get bored. I'm not sure how true it is though.

This is a bit off topic but you have to take your daughter to the children's museum in downtown Fayetteville sometime. It is a lot of fun...but you might actually want to wait until she is a bit older.

Back on topic...stay away from Yadkin Blvd (or Yadkin Rd, or whatever it is)

And there is an apartment complex on Reilly Rd called Family Lodge - STAY AWAY!! The price is right but they will screw you out of your deposit when you leave.

Ashley (Ashandbrons) lives in Fayetteville now so I'm sure she will have some input. Sarah is there too...but I think shes out of town.

Thank you so so much for all your advice. I am lost going into this b/c its our first PCS so I don't even know where to start. We'll be at Fort Bragg in November so I have a couple months to get it straightened out. I am leaning toward post housing since this is our first go round but housing that is actually on post. It would be nice to have new housing but I don't think my husband would want too far of a drive. We're definitely looking at all our options though. Thank you so much again! And if you have any more inside scoop please do share :)

Oh I almost forgot, there are some apartments on Cliffdale Ave between All American Freeway and McPherson Church that are good. The best gate to go into and leave from is the All American gate, at least in the morning between 8 and 9:30 and the evening after like 4

We just moved into some apartments off Cliffdale and Skibo while we get on a waiting list for on post housing, and they are really nice!
But also, alot of the neighborhoods are being renovated. My hubbys best friend and his wife just moved into the neighborhood "Bougainville." The houses are nice, inside and out. They're right off Honeycutt.

And I agree about the gate. All American is fast and easy, and at Randolph gate, security is very nice, and there's never too much traffic.

I realize I'm a little late, I just thought I'd put in my two cents. (:

Not many allow dogs. Our old ones in Spring lake do but...they turned ghetto.
