so derrick and i have finally agreed that it will be okay for me to find a place for us to live before he comes home. the plan is to look around for the next month. then i am going to narrow it down between a few places. my mom is going to go with me to look at them and talk about renting [she knows a lot more about that kind of stuff and i don't think i'd be able to do it without her]
hopefully by april we'll have found a place and i can start moving everything in and making it feel like home. i think it's going to be really good to have a place all taken care of and partially settled in so that we don't have to worry when he comes back home where he will stay.
we were also looking at homes that have been foreclosed. we found a 4/br 3.5/ba huge home, almost a mansion! for under $1200/mo. does anyone know anything about renting a foreclosed home? like it all seems too good to be true...but it's what they're asking for. i'm curious.

You should check with Christy on the foreclosure stuff. I know her and Jay keep their eyes on it in case something they like pops up. I think its good to take your mom! I learned a lot from renting our first place and I wish I had someone to do it with me, even if it's just someone else to ask the silly questions you forget!! AND YAYYYYYYYYY! That's so exciting that you and Derrick are talking about living together!! Congrats to you both!!
That's SO EXCITING Jamie!!! :) We'll have to talk about what you're looking for and the lists and stuff cause I'm going to have to do the same stuff you are in a few months! I can't wait to see pictures!!

Jason is looking to start a business that involved flipping foreclosed houses and turning them into section 8 housing. The houses we looked at were really, really crappy. He was looking at very inexpensive houses. He suggested buying a foreclosed house and when and if you move, you can rent it out. You just gotta watch them because they tend to need A LOT of work.

everything i have looked at about foreclosure stuff isn't looking so good. i think we are going to stick with just renting an apartment. i think it would be nice if maybe we had a family and use for a large home but it's not a necessity. no sense in getting something you don't need. it would be nice, we'll just have to see what happens.
i think when i do start actually going places i will take lots of pics and then i'll post them and you guys can help me vote which ones are best! haha, i need to take a ton of each place i look at for derrick since he won't be here. it's going to be hard but i'm so happy to have my mom with me.

oh wow!! thats so exciting- i cant wait till it comes time for aaron and i to look for somewhere to live.
sorry i cant really help you with the renting stuff either, all i know about is my $380/month apartment here at school. haha which my mom mostly helps me out with.
Sweet! I'm excited for you J. Good luck with looking around. I know Momma will help you pick something nice.... and we'll help too! I agree with you, it would probably be easier if everything is for the most part set and ready for when he gets home, so then there isnt much he needs to stress over. And you're a smart girl, I know you'll find something great. I'm happy for you<3
