Hi! My name is Michaela, I'm engaged to be married to my soldier when he comes home in September! :yahoo:

Right now I'm preparing myself to be an army wife, packing and getting rid of things that I don't need or can't move, getting paperwork from my fire department so that I can join a new one when I move, finishing my training with my current department, and planning the wedding! so very much to do in a little time!

If anyone has advice for a future army wife or has inexpensive wedding ideas and such please let me know!

I'm Kathryn. My boyfriend, Justin, is in the Marines and currently deployed right now. He comes back at the end of next month!! I live in Housotn, TX while he is stationed out in Cali at Camp Pendleton.

Congrats on the engagement! I'm no wife so I don't really have much help in that dept..but there are many girls here that are! lol

Hi my name is Ashley, I am married to mu hubby for 3 years and he is currently deployed and is coming home soon! He is in the Air Force.

As for the wedding maybe see if you can call a hotel and see if they have a banquet room. Thats what we did for ours. They served dinner and had a dance floor so we could dance! It was the best wedding ever!!

Kira- We thought about the city hall wedding but my family would have been really upset... they're very into the ceremony idea so although that's what he and I want, we're doing a ceremony for our families... but I still LOVE that idea the best!

Ashley- We're planning on a back yard wedding... our friend is going to be the DJ and we're having a pot luck picnick for the reception... we looked into the hotel idea but it's just so expensive and we're on a tight budget! Thanks for the advice!!! I hope he comes home really really soon!

im sherry 26, married to william for 6 years, we have 3 (not so lil anymore) boys chris 5 josh 4 and darren 9mo! we have been an army family going on 4 years this coming nov, we are originally from jacksonville fl, but moved to ft. knox ky lived there for 2 years & conquered our first deployment before he reinlisted and we moved to benning! im a sahm and my older boys start kindergarden and prek in aug, i cant wait im ready to go back to work, thats about it, hope to get to know ya soon! hugs!

Hi Sherry! I've been to Benning twice... It's a beautiful fort! (Columbus had me a little scared in places but I guess that's what happens when you live in the burbs your whole life!) Your boys are handsome! (all 4 of them!)

we got married by a JOP in my dads back yard and just had a party at the house. it was like 400.

Hi Michaela! I'm Colleen and I have been married to my army soldier for a year and a half now. We are currently surviving our first deployment. In the fall when he returns we're having our big wedding ceremony with all our friends and family because we also did the courthouse thing. I am in planning mode too and I certainly understand how expensive it can be!! We are stationed in Alaska, and I am heading back there now that the school year is over to get settled and wait anxiously for his return!
I think you will fit right in, the girls here are wonderful and have been very supportive for me over the past year!! :cheers:

WELCOME!! Im kristi 20 and just got married. I do suggest a JOP wedding at the courthouse. That way you can still have a wedding later! lol, but all the stress of planing it is GONE. Then you can have it after the big move! Your family will get over it eventually... heck I have been married for a over a month and my family still doesnt know!

My husband John-Mark is currently deployed to Iraq, 13.5 more months! Im finishing up nursing school here in missouri, then ill join him most likely down at fort bliss texas and be in the army

Hi Michaela!

I'm Meredith. I'm an army wife for almost a year now :) I had to wait for my soldier to get home too! We're stationed at Fort Lewis, WA but he's heading back to Iraq soon and I'm looking to relocate back to NJ with my family while he's away. I was working as an athletic trainer but because I'm moving I'm currently unemployed. But I love the outdoors and can't wait to own a home and a dog and have a few babies....but that won't be for a few years yet.

My husband and I just got married at the courthouse and are going to plan a more formal, "real" wedding for our fifth anniversary!!

As far as advice on being a military wife? Hmmmm.... I think that no matter what anyone said....things would probably change about a hundred or more times... lol

I guess the most important thing is try to remain patient and learn some very effective stress reducing techniques...lol... things can get very frustrating!!! And never hesitate to ask for help or support from other military wives like all of us!!!

Hey Michaela! Welcome! My name is Rachel and I am married to my soldier Jeff. We are stationed at Ft Hood in Texas. We have a little baby boy who almost 5 months old and his name is Landon.

About the inexpensive part....we got married at a gazebo in a park, it only cost like 100$ or 200$ to rent it out for the day, and it was beautiful! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
