Soooo ladies...

I am trying to get as much as I can figured out, so when I do actually plan the wedding, I have the minor details out of the way...

but... I don't know much about flowers... what types of flowers are pretty???

and

SONGS? Holy crap... there are sooo many... got any ideas for

OUR SONG- (I'm definately leaning towards Mindy Smith One Moment More or Big and Rich Lost In This Moment)

Father/Bride -(maybe I loved her first by heartland?)

Mother/Groom- (got nothing on this one)

and just any good songs for a wedding so people can dance?

Father/bride: There's a song called "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks that always makes me smile. Or "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle.

It's NOT FUN lol
I've been planning since July and ours is in 2 months (April)
It's long, hard, stressful and tedious
My biggest suggestion is find someone to help you out that isn't going to argue with your decisions and who will be there every time you need to go do something

i agree with mary! granted i threw mine together in 3 wks but it wasnt fun. i still did the cake, flowers, dress, the whole she-bang, just quicker and smaller.and i was so stressed out dude.
get some help!!! if you can afford to, get a wedding planner/coordinator!

You can hire LOVEY! :D

As for songs... It really needs to be something that stands out to you and really touches you. If you get a dj, they have huge libraries of music and can usually help you pick out songs.

My suggestion is to plan EARLY! That way when unexpected things come up you have time to fix them. I thought planning my wedding now was a bit to early for October, such as getting the dress and everything booked but I am not early at all! Most things are booking up fast/already booked and the dress is supposed to take at least 6 months to come in! Also because I started so early I got a discount on my invitations because they had an after Christmas sale in Jan where you got 10% off..and then with a military discount another 15% on top of that!
Also make sure you have a budget in place before you do anything...it will be alot easier in the end and keep you on track financially!
Good luck with everything and take time to enjoy it as it is something special!!

Yeah. Seriously Kristi, Nick hasn't even proposed yet but we want a May wedding and I've already started looking at venues becasue you have to book at LEAST a year in advance (iahhklds;ajfa) and I'm stressed already and it hasn't even fully started yet.

I think it'd be neat to see if JM has any songs he'd like to dance to with his mother? Maybe a song that meant something to them?

My biggest advice on wedding planning is to keep a Wedding Book. Find a binder that you can put things in: numbers, ideas, pictures, information. That way you have everything in one place when you need it. Start by just looking for pics of things you like, put them in your book, so you can go to venues and say "this is what I like, what can you do like this?" And make sure to keep notes of WHERE you went, WHO you talked to, DETAILS, etc, in case something goes wrong.

As for music, you wanna pick out music that keeps people out on the dance floor. Go over with him exactly what you want and the type of music you want. Also, make a list of songs you know you want played for sure and songs you know you don't want played. I instructed my DJ that he was NOT to play Celebration by Kool & The Gang and the Marcarena(sp), "remember when" by Alan Jackson and I didn't want him to play the Electric Slide because I think that song and dance are totally :homo:. Also, I have a card with the exact times I wanted things to be done at the reception. I made sure the Best Man had one, The Hall Manager and the DJ. I wanted intros done at a certain time, toast by this time and everything during dinner timed out because I wanted to get all the formalities out of the way and get right down to the reception. With my dance with my father, I let him pick out the song and he chose "Just the way you look tonight" by Dean Martin. Also, for the dresses, this is what I did and surprisingly, there was not a lot of arguing with the bridesmaids. I had 7 girls and they were all different shapes and skin tones. I have one girl who was like a size 22 and one who was a size 2. So when it came time to get dresses, I put it on them. I let them pick them out. One less thing for me to worry about. Because my thought process was, I'm not wearing it. I get to pick my dress out, why is it fair for me to put them in dresses that I think are cute, but might not be comfortable or look right on them. They had three rules to follow when it came to picking them out, 1, They had to be Chiffon bottom, 2, they could not be strapless and 3, they had to be black. The rest, I left up to them to come to the agreement on which ones they liked and then I would make the final decision. It def brought a level of unity among them and sort of forced them to work together and get along while taking one duty away from me.

Christy funny about the bridesmaids dresses... I have already decided to do that! Lol... My sister is a large girl, and my best friend is sooo tiny, she is 5foot6 and barely weighs 100lbs... sooo I decided that I just wanted them all in black dresses! Nothing too fancy just cocktail dresses! That saves me stress, and them money!

And Mary... I hope my addresses from graduation come in handy! lol. I will leave JM in charge of his family and those addresses lol and ill do my half!

Wow after reading all this and thinking back to when my friend was planning her wedding I totally want to just elope. I never wanted a huge wedding anyway. Wonder how the boy would feel about that. lol!

I totally agree! Weddings are so expensive its crazy and parents never pay for the whole thing anymore, unless they are super loaded or the person is super spoiled. LOL I dont have the money to pay for it!!! Eloping might be the way to be ;)

Either way if you are able to have a big beautiful wedding it isprobably worth the annoyance!!

Men dont help a whole lot with weddings in my experience lol

Matt is trying to help but he's away so he can't and everyone keeps telling me "that's okay, even if he was here he probably wouldn't do much... my husband didn't and we lived together!"

So just be as prepared as you can haha

Kristi, that's the other reason I went with Black. Everyone always says "You want a dress that the girls can wear again", well in this case, they can!

well, i only had 3 days to plan mine..lol..as far as flowers go..it really depends on when you're planning your big day..but then again, you can always google different types of flowers and their meanings :) like with mine, i was going to go with roses or lillies, because they are both my absolute favorite! but, i went ahead and went with a spring mix, which had roses in it..i really wanted red roses, but with it being spring, decided to go with pink! anyways, hope this was a bit helpful to you! as far as songs go..there's always the timeless classic, endless love, the dance by garth brooks, from this moment by shania twain..but yeah, the song you and your new hubby dance to, should definately be your song..donald and i danced to our song, it's your love by tim mcgraw and faith hill :) :bananalove: best of luck to you! :bighug:
