View Full Version : I'm annoyed with New Jersey!

So I'm just annoyed for two reasons really. I'm NOT leaving here until Mike does. Which means I won't be moving till late September...maybe even October. So if I want to get hired in NJ as an athletic trainer it's pretty much impossible....no employer in their right mind is going to hire me if I wouldn't be able to start until halfway through the fall sports season unless their desperate..

SECONDLY NJ board of medical examiners is retarded. They don't have a grace period! I'm NATIONALLY certified and Licensed in WA ....what makes you think my paperwork won't clear in NJ?? Seriously...it's a matter of paperwork! They're going to want me to fill out a form and send my college transcripts and a letter of verification from the NATA that I passed my cert. exam...for freakin 50 dollars! And I'm weary of doing the paperwork if I'm not going to get hired because a license costs like 300...and that's stupid if I'm not going to get hired as an AT. I don't have 350 dollars to shell out on paperwork if I dont' get hired!!

UGH why did I pick such a stupid profession?! And why does the damn army insist on making my husband deploy again a year later?! For real?! I JUST got here!! Which means I've had NO time to actually establish myself here...its a load of :poop:!!!!

Don't worry it's not just your profession!! I have been looking into applying to teach in AK and the process is ridiculous considering I have both a Maine state liscense and a my Nova Scotia provincial liscense. I have to shell out a lot of dough and write like 2 essays and it's just a 25 page application! Crazy! And their school year starts in August and I am going to need time off in October when hubby comes home so we can come back here and have our wedding, etc.!! So the timing of this stupid army thing is horrid as it is for you!! Let's go yell at someone, or throw things at their cars!!! It's definitely frustrating with a capital F for sure!!
But you know what, even though it may not look like it now, things will work out for you one way or another!! Or we can just open a new school where I will teach and you can be the athletic trainer and their school year will start in October!! Hey, it could happen!

I just sent the guy my cover letter, resume and references...Based on his email address he works for this physical therapy company but is hired out to my old high school which means he knows a lot of my past employers (I worked summers for some teachers -who are football coaches - up until I moved to WA). Maybe as a JCHS grad I'll get a little pitty lol. I also stated in my cover letter that I'd be in NJ in June and will be "permenantly" relocating shortly after. My dad said to just go for it and if it came down to needing the money for the app he'd help me out...I'm soooooo lucky my parents are so helpful! It's just so freakin frustrating! I dread the "so, why washington?" And now why back to NJ?? Freakin army. And Mike wonders why I can't get a job! lol Cause the Civilian world is a pain in the ass!! It's not so easy as picking up and moving!! And they don't like people who move after a year or two!! People want to hire for the long run!! BLAHHHH

Lol nobody except for people who grew up in Jersey really appreciate it. I had the best of everything! A HUGE city 20 minutes from my house, and a beach an hour away. I lived in a nice leave it to beaver style suburb. By no means urban! I wouldn't change growing up in NJ for a thing! The FOOD is amazing! I actually miss it quite a bit!

However Mouse, Mike and I want to settle down in NH!! He doesn't want to live in Jersey (nor could we afford it! YIKES) And I refuse to live in Rutland...that place is a hole (where his mom lives lol) and his dad and his wife are in NH and it's our Fave so that's where we planing on going.

Unfortunately to save the rent and be with family while he's deployed... I'm going to NJ. My parents both grew up there and most likely will never leave...my g'rents are still there along with 99% of both sides of the family! Sooo yeah lol That's why Jersey :)

Hey watch it now!
I love NJ but I'm from the good half, down SOUTH :D

That really does stink Mere but maybe you would either come to NJ early so you can start and then take vaca for the week before he leaves or reconsider staying in WA.

Oh no. I won't be leaving here until he does and if that means I don't work the year as an athletic trainer that's fine by me. It's just frustrating that's all, it would be nicer if my profession allowed for me to get hired mid year instead of needing to be hired by August. I have some back up plans and I'm going to be going to school anyway. I refuse to give up any more time with him. By the time he gets home again we'll have been together for over 4 years and only have been able to actually spend 1 of them physically together....that time before he leaves is just to precious for me to be 3000 miles away.

Understandable, I wouldn't leave either lol
That's why when I go back to school I'm making sure I go for something that will let me travel around and get a job whenever and wherever

If you have to take a year off, then do it
Your husband is more important :bighug:

yeah I haven't heard anything from anyone so when I got home in June I'll be getting the paper work done to be a substitute teacher...it will give me the freedom I need to get my masters as well as allow me to make my own schedule so I don't have to worry about not having the time off at r&r! If I work in a grocery store for the cash thats fine...one of the pluses to me moving home is that even if by chance I can find NOTHING to do we can still handle all of our bills and bank some (just not as much of course) so I know everything will be fine either way...it's just frustrating sometimes.

I'm glad you found a solution with the substitute teaching. :)
