Hated in Kentucky!?!

So we are new to the military and I know maybe I shouldn't be pissed but I am.

So DH is trying to find us an apartment cause it looks like we might not get into post housing. So housing gave him a list of potential apartments, he calls they say "Yeah we got places for rent come down", he goes down then says "I'm sorry there is nothing here for you"!


It's not just the apartment, the Sgt was not going to let him stay in the barrack housing until he was done with in processing because he was from Massachusetts and he said that to DH's face.

His buddy was not treated this way and is from Louisiana so we know it's us. This guy got an apartment in 1 day.

Blah. I told DH ( no offense to anyone ) to fake a southern accent see if that helps.

Well I'm sorry his Sgt is a butt!!!! I'm sure most of the off post housing is probably nicer than you think! Our apartment is constantly (and by constantly I mean they haven't taken the sign down since I moved in a year ago) advertising rooms available...sometimes it might not be what you want (ie too big, too small, too expensive w/e) and other times I think they say it meaning we have rooms that are available....in 3 weeks when such in such moves out - you know? They can't possibly always have open apartments! Most of the places around here are SUPER military friendly since their housing is pretty much always rotating service members. Unfortunatly the army isn't always much help...they gave him a list of 5 places but I bet you there are more. Get him to find out some of the names of the towns around the base and try apartments.com or even ahrn.com (its rentals for military only and you search by post). I was living in MA when I found the apartment we're currently living in. It's a little out dated but is overall a good place to live. It will be nice to have Adam down there. You can do the research and send him to do some recon! Mike and I got lucky...we had no idea what we were getting into lol.

He said housing told him not to go to ahrn.com but they are with the DOD so now DH says do not look there it's a rip off ?!? So confused.

I'm not asking for everything to be available, I know there will be things that are not available and that's fine. We could care less what the place looks like our apartment now is horrible anything would be better than here. Money wise it is tough since we are stupid and have 2 car payments and we can't just go over our BAH.

I'm mad at my DH too cause he was on sitting on his butt for 2 weeks when I asked him to call places he said he couldn't cause "housing said he needed to see them first". That part is sorta true but he still should have tried even if they said not to.

Then he wants me to do everything, he has a meeting that will take up his whole day tomorrow so I need to find us a place he says. If I don't have any luck he will try to see what he can do on friday.

I just want to cry, this will never work out, he doesn't know how to be a man. His mom does everything for his dad and this is how he grew up.

Thanks! Me too, I just went through this sort of thing once a long time ago and it is so stressful and I hate that part. Plus I'm still sick and have a major headache and I'm tired. I need a good drink..lol.

Okay and I just realized that I wrote hated, I do not even think that is a word..lol.

im sorry honey. did you try to look at like forrent.com thats how we found our appartment.
