Hey y'all! I'm not a new member, but didn't get on mtmh for months and lost my account, so here I am again!
My name is Christina and I am the proud wife of a SGT in the AR Army National Guard. He is actually enlisting to go active duty ARMY this week, so goodbye to the Guard and hello base life! :) We have two beautiful little girls, Shaylin (7months) and Sarai (18 months; she's my middle sister's child, but we are getting legal guardianship/adopting). I am a SAHM, halfway through college, about to move to a mystery location (dunno yet!) away from my family, friends, and the place I've lived my whole life. :chinscratch: My husband has been deployed once and hopefully not again for a little bit. We started dating on his two week leave actually a few months into his deployment in 2007, engaged a week later. We knew each other in high school, but never even dated or really even spoke until mutual best friends decided to play matchmaker. We've been married since Dec. 2007 (got prego literally on the last day of our honeymoon).
We recently decided to go active duty from the National Guard b/c of the job stability and extra benefits. Right now, he works on an offshore oil rig so he's gone for several weeks at a time, then home for drill weekend and a day or two after before he is back out in the ocean. Because of our girls' ages, he really wanted to try to spend more time with our family and not miss so many firsts (it's sad to say that we'd actually see/communicate with each other more if he was deployed again due to lack of cell service or internet access while he's in the ocean). I'm excited about the change, but nervous b/c I've never lived so far away from my family or my best friend. I have my beautiful little family and my new Army family, though, so here we go!
