Ok so I didnt listen to Danie (my bad) and I went and bought an "external hard drive" when in actuality this thing is just a stupid hunk of plastic and bits. I'm ready to break it. For 4 hours this thing has been running transferring my files. But the kicker here is the files are encrypted and not accessible like they are supposed to be. Now I have to wipe it and return it tomorrow. Wonder if that will take another 4 hours?!? And I'm still stuck with a slow computer until I can order a better ex hard drive and wait for it to be shipped out. The worst part is I should have known better and searched for info on this before I bought it. The net is full of people complaining about how poorly this thing works and how they have lost all their data. Stupid stupid stupid!

im sorry your having problems. what kind did you get?
We just got a new harddrive...it's techincally an internal, but it's encased in an external enclosure. I'll try to find the links to what I bought...it wasn't too expensive.

Yea I will look there tonight def. I think I found a way to work around the encryption by just drag/dropping files into it and using it like a giant flash drive. I'm hesitant to delete my pics off my laptop unitl I know for sure I can retrive them. Fingers crossed that it works. I don't want to deal with the hassle of trying to return this thing. I'm going to backall my pics up to disc tonight anyway just to be safe.
*sigh This was supposed to be so simple.

Mike and I use Western Digital's "passports" they're REALLY easy to use! Just plug in the usb drive and drag and drop! If I can do it you can do it!! We've found the best deal on them is if you buy them from Costco

Thats what I got. lol! And the software that came with it is impossible to use. There is no users manual. The only directions that came with it were plug in and use basically. I've been just dragging and dropping like you said and that is working just fine. Wish they had made a better user interface. I got a pretty good deal on it though. 320 gig for $90. Not a bad price at all. How big is yours Mere? And what was the price?
