so we have been working on the potty training rylies getting ok at it. the only problem is that he wont poo in it. my mom said to take off his diaper and just let him run around untill he has to go. well this works with him peeing but he just wont poo in it, and he wont go on the floor. so he just holds it. and then he will start to cry cause he has to go so bad. i always end up putting the diaper back on him cause i feel bad.
any sugestions of how to get started.

Hmm...I never had that problem with Lexie. Potty training was a b****. after awhile she got down the whole potty part but she would still poo in her panties! that took like an extra 2 weeks to get the poo part down. make him sit on the pot when he has to poopoo..try to make a game out of it..like next time he poops in the potty..NOT in the diaper he gets a sticker or a piece of candy or something..

I'm with Kathryn! We had the same problem here but he started pooing at daycare so he started pooing at home too. Idk what they did but I can try and find out! Treats are ALWAYS a great bribe ;)

Girls...
I am completely opposite! Colton started telling me he has to poo, and will poo in the potty, but he won't tell me he has to pee. This weekend, we are letting him run naked! Since he already tells me he has to poo in the potty, hopefully we can get him to tell me he has to pee after the weekend. We'll see.
I started with candies... I would put him on the pot, if he tried, and didn't do anything, he would get one for trying, if he pee'd = 2, if he poo's = 3, if he did both = 4. This has worked pretty well for us, and TODAY, not kidding... TODAY he told me for the first time, that he had to poo. I was floored! He never tells me, he just did out of the blue today! It was such a step... It's really consistency. Just be consistent, and it will click and they will learn. Hope that helps.:chinscratch:

Hey I like surprises so I figure anyone under the age of like 9 will too haha. Plus that way its not all candy... you can do stickers and like little toys you'd find in a goodie bag!

Oh and I've mentioned this a few times before but we had a chart so that everytime he went potty he'd get a star and when he got a full week of stars he got to go to chuck e cheese. But that meant he had to not have an accident for a week.... he still hasnt made it to chuck e cheese yet but he's getting closer every week! Oh and obviously night time accidents don't count.
