OPSEC is the one and only Military rule we will ask you ladies to follow. OPSEC stands for operational security. Our service members are also expected to follow OPSEC. OPSEC basically states that you should not give out any pertinent information about your soldier, your soldier's career, or current orders (mostly deployment orders - orders concerning permanent change of station [PSC'ing] are fine). OPSEC is not only expected on forums but other websites like myspace and facebook as well as your personal emails! We don't want any information falling into the wrong hands!

Please make sure that none of the following things are in your posts:

- last names (this goes for pictures of your s/o in his uniform too!!)
- addresses
-phone numbers
- deployment departure or arrival dates
- R&R departure or arrival dates
- information about missions that your hubby/fiancé/bf probably shouldn't have given you anyway lol
- information about troop movements for example: My husband left his FOB today to run a recon mission in Tikrit....
- countdown tickers - tickers that count the time he's been gone are fine!

** We know how excited you are to have your man home! PLEASE do not post that they will be home tomorrow! OR Any type of countdown. Not just the countdown tickers but also stating things such as:

My husband Sgt. John Smith from 1313 Mockingbird Lane will be home on Oct. 5th at 3:15 on American Airlines flight 495 landing in Atlanta, GA!! ((this would be very silly ladies!!))

My hubby comes home in 9 days.

My boyfriend will be home this week/weekend!

My fiance is on his way home!!

**Please, please, please wait until they are safely home stateside to let us know he's home safe!! Feel free to tell us what month he's coming home in but NOTHING more than that. Once we get to that month please refrain from count downs or hints as to when he's getting here.

Things that are ok:
I'm sooooo excited he's going to be home soon!!

I'm leaving to go to the airport to get Mike! He's FINALLY HOME!!

Sorry I went awhol BUT HE'S SITTING HERE NEXT TO ME!!

We know OPSEC is a major pain in the butt! That you're excited and you want to tell the whole world that he's coming home. but it is in place to keep both our members and our men safe! So please remember it! The admins WILL edit your posts if you have this info in it and PM you to let you know of your modifications. There will be penalties for numerous violations so please be careful!!

The safety of our members and our men is our number one concern!

If you have any questions about OPSEC please email myself [Meredith], Erin, Brooke, Christy, or Danie! Any one of us will be willing to answer any of your questions - and there are NO stupid questions!!

While living in Germany OPSEC was highly stressed, commercial after commercial about it, so it was ingrained in me to always do this. I hope that the ladies on this forum, and all those spouses of those in the military are always careful, not just on the internet, in public, people are always listening, etc. I was shocked to see a few ladies on post here have gigantic yellow ribbons on their cars with their husband's rank and name on them, as soon as I saw that I cringed, what poor OPSEC.
